Tegan and Sara Take Home Three Awards at The 2014 Juno Awards

485

This past weekend, Canadian duo Tegan and Sara claimed a total of three awards at the 2014 Juno Awards. The girls lead the way for all Juno nominees. Their seventh studio album, and commercial breakthrough Heartthrob, earned them their first three Juno Awards – Pop Album of The Year, Single of the Year (“Closer”), and Group of the Year versus fellow artists such as Robin Thicke, Arcade Fire, Michael Bublé, and more.

The Calgary-born twins also performed their hit single “Closer” on the Juno Awards show broadcast nationally Sunday evening. After a great first run with “Closer,” the girls are launching their second single from this album cycle this spring, “I Was A Fool,” the follow up to their wildly successful first single.

Tegan and Sara will be kicking off their “Let’s Make Things Physical” headlining tour this spring with dates including a stop at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom, and back-to-back nights in DC and Chicago in addition to some massive performances at slew of summer festivals, all followed by a stint with Katy Perry on fall’s “Prismatic” tour. Tegan and Sara are still on fire. The last year has been colossal for the sisters, with the release of their seventh studio album, Heartthrob, which marked their highest first week charting position of all time. The duo scored their first mainstream hit with “Closer” and circled the globe in support of  Heartthrob. Next up, the girls are taking off to sea with Paramore as part of the Parahoy!  cruise concert, then accompanying Katy Perry on the last leg of her international tour. In the meantime, they’ve just announced a run of 19 headlining dates including a stop at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom, and back-to-back nights in DC and Chicago in addition to some massive performances at slew of summer festivals.

After a great first-run with “Closer,” Tegan and Sara are launching their second single from this album cycle this spring, “I Was A Fool,”  the follow up to their wildly successful first single. Today, Tegan and Sara released a “Closer” EP entitled Closer Remixed – Vol. 3 with 11 new versions of the song.
The Canadian-born duo teamed up with The Lonely Island to sing the theme-song, “Everything Is Awesome”, for The LEGO® Movie, the first-ever, full-length theatrical LEGO® adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, which opened up this month and has been blowing up the box office. There’s also a new song performed by Tegan and Sara, “Don’t Find Another Love,” in Universal Pictures’ movie Endless Love, a romantic drama starring Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike) and Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers) and directed by Shana Feste (Country Strong).

On March 30th, Tegan and Sara will perform at the Canadian Juno Awards, of which they’re nominated for four! They’re also confirmed for Big Guava Music Festival in Tampa, FL, Hangout Music Fest, Suburbia Music Festival, and Firefly Festival in Dover, DE this summer.
