Fresh Dixie Release MGMT “Electric Feel” Cover

fresh dixieLondon-based Fresh Dixie has been described as one of “the UK’s most exciting up and coming cross-over jazz acts,” playing a string of prestigious festivals and venues. More recently, they have played sell-out headline shows at The Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room and Soho’s Pizza Express Jazz Club.

The band have also been writing and recording new music, with the help of producer Geoff Gascoyne (Jamie Cullum, Paloma Faith), as well as recording a series of live video sessions at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios. Fresh Dixie’s debut EP is due out early next year. But the track that’s on everybody’s mind? Their rendition of MGMT’s smash-hit, “Electric Feel.” Check it out below:

Truthfully, I was never crazy about the original song. I was younger when it came out and just didn’t take to it. However, Fresh Dixie have produced a version of the track that gives it a whole new appeal, filled with rich instrumentals, and seductive melodies that fit the lyrics beautifully. Mark my words, Fresh Dixie are one to watch!

The band play Pizza Express at The Pheasantry next Wednesday, on the 21st of October.
