Love Buzzard Unveil New Video, Announce Tour Dates & Album Release Date

love buzzard

After plundering the underground live scene round the UK for the past 18 months and supporting the likes of Slaves, Cerebral Ballzy and God Damn, Leeds / Guildford based duo Love Buzzard are about to launch their debut album, ‘Antifistamines’ through the cult London based record label 1234 Records (The Buzzcocks / Babyshambles).

The video for ‘Cash’ which has just been unveiled features wicked neon bright coloured sickly animations mashed over footage of the duo. As the track grinds, perplexes and hits hard with fuzzy thrash riffs and obscure chanting, the leather clad pair rampage through streets firing precious cash from super soakers, morphing passers by into gritty cartoon characters also.

The album due out in August 2015 is a mixture of genre defying psychgaragepunk. Raw, feral, addictive and more aggressive than everything that has stood before it.

Last year, UK singer Gabrielle Aplin made her first waves in the US with her English Rain EP. Later this year, Aplin will be making her official US debut with the release of Light Up The Dark, on September 18th. The album comes after her massive overseas success, where she’s enjoyed #1 chart positions in both the UK and Australia, as well as 1.5 million in sales of singles from her international releases.

The new album’s title track, “Light Up The Dark,” was mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Florence + The Machine) and is available now as an instant grat with a pre-order of the album, along with “Heavy Heart,” which will be available as an instant grat on June 24. Duran Duran Announce Title/Release Date of New Album, Tour Dates

duran duran

Multi-platinum superstars Duran Duran have announced that they will release their 14th studio album, Paper Gods in the U.S. on September 18th and in the rest of the world on September 11th through Warner Bros. Records. Simon Le Bon (vox), Nick Rhodes (keys), John Taylor (bass), and Roger Taylor (drums) recorded the album in London with producers Nile Rodgers, Mark Ronson, Josh Blair, and Mr Hudson. The record features special guests Janelle Monáe (on the first single “Pressure Off”), former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, Canadian Juno-Award winning singer Kiesza, British singer/songwriter Mr Hudson, violinist Davidé Rossi, and actress Lindsay Lohan. The album was mixed by Mark ‘Spike’ Stent. Paper Gods will be available for pre-order and “Pressure Off” will be available for purchase at all participating digital retailers and DuranDuran.com this week.

Paper Gods is said to capture the duality and sense of conflict at the heart of Duran Duran’s music. “It really goes back to that strange early Duran mix: the hard-edged pop, coexisting with this dark, weird, experimental side,” John says.

“That’s something that’s essential to all of us,” Nick adds. “It’s great to be able to lift people’s spirits – and your own – with a strong shot of pure pop, but the world we live in isn’t all just made of that stuff, so it seems natural to me that we have kept one foot in the darker, more Gothic side of life.”

Early sessions for Paper Gods began in 2013, with Mark Ronson and engineer Josh Blair once again joining the band in their south London recording studio, as they had for 2011’s All You Need is Now, which was produced by Ronson. When Ronson was called away to begin working on his own album, Duran Duran and Blair hooked up with the Kanye West/Jay-Z collaborator Ben “Mr” Hudson, and the sessions caught fire.  In the summer of 2014, Ronson returned once more to the project, adding long-time Duran collaborator, Nile Rodgers to the mix for two of the album’s standout tracks.  The remaining songs were co-produced by Josh Blair and the band.

“We found a whole new level of inspiration on this album,” says Rhodes.

“We’ve allowed ourselves the time to make music that we can be proud of,” adds Le Bon. “I judge what we release by my favourite albums – Horses, Harvest, Let It Bleed, Blue, Transformer, Aladdin Sane. Those are classic albums. The only rule is it’s got to be music you can live with for the rest of your life.”

In a collaboration overseen by China Chow, the band worked closely with Los Angeles-based artist Alex Israel, who created the album’s cover art. It features a collage of images that reference the visual history of Duran Duran, each placed like a sticker on a reproduction of Israel’s “Sky Backdrop” painting.  The logo and graphic design are by Brian Roettinger. You can see the artwork below:

Afrikan Boy Releases “Eje Aiye” as Part of Gemma Cairney’s ‘Body Of Songs’

Afrikan Boy

Radio 1’s Gemma Cairney has started to curate songs inspired by the mysteries of the human body to form her incredible new music project, Body Of Songs. The collection is a groundbreaking fusion of music and science, bringing together some of Britain’s most talented musicians to create a group of songs inspired by our inner workings.

All of the acts involved have met with specialists, doctors, et cetera, to explore the body and get inspiration for new musical projects. Check out more on the project below:

Afrikan Boy is the latest artist to unveil his track, featuring Bumi Thomas and Adio, for the project, inspired by blood. “Our song is named ‘Eje Aiye,’ which means ‘life blood or the blood of life’ in Yoruba, and is inspired by the three main functions of blood; protect, repair, and transport,” he explains.

You can stream the song below:

You can check out the Body Of Songs: 10 Major Artists, 10 Songs, 10 Body Parts, HERE.

The results of the experiment were incredible; from the moving, cinematic sounds of Dave Okumu’s “Grateful Heart,” to Afrikan Boy’s fusion of UK and Africa in “Eje Aiye.”

The artists’ scientific journeys have been guided with help from inspirational clinician, Professor Hugh Montgomery, Director of the UCL Institute for Human Health and Performance.

With a line-up of incredible artists, curated by Gemma Cairney (Radio 1), Llywelyn Ap Myrrdin (composer) and Beth Clayton the remaining four songs and body organs from musicians at the peak of their creative powers will be released ahead of the final album in summer 2015.

Body Of Songs is supported by the Wellcome Trust and Arts Council England. With special thanks to University College London Hospital and the NHS.
