The indie-rock band, Carbon Tigers, are all set to arrive in Austin for South by Southwest 2014! The band released their new EP, The Wars At Home, on November 19th, 2013, mixed by Mike Watts (As Tall As Lions) and mastered by Ed Brooks (Death Cab For Cutie, Minus The Bear). The five song EP is both philosophical and narrative, going in-depth and look at self-discovery and growth before it turns dark, as well as telling stories of destruction, love, and fierce competition. To purchase the EP, please visit iTunes, here: http://bit.ly/18MmeYd.

Carbon Tigers is comprised of Chris Wienke (vocals/guitar/bass), Nick Cudone (guitar/vocals), Aaron Sweatt (bass/guitar/keys/vocals), and Darien Williams (drums/vocals). Following their 2011 release of The Dover Sessions, the band pulled a complete Houdini, heading back to the studio to work on their latest creation, The Wars At Home, which was a complete success, pushing to create a contrast between genres, beautifully illuminated by catchy hooks and excellent timing.  Written between 2012-2013 and recorded in July of 2013, producer Jonathan Alvin (Bailiff, Archie Powell and the Exports) helped the band shape the sound of the EP with vocal producer Gabe Liebowitz at Chrome Attic Studios in Crystal Lake, IL. As an extra plus, Charlie Dresser of Company of Thieves plays drums on the recordand Darien Williams of Young Man plays live with Carbon Tigers.

After facing the obstacles of having their equipment, merchandise, and van stolen, Carbon Tigers were resilient and rose to the occasion, crowd funding over $12,000 to purchase new gear. They have since then made their mark performing at the Brooklyn Vegan after party at Lollapalooza and sold out shows with Cold War Kids, Gold Motel, Further Seems Forever, Biffy Clyro, and Maps & Atlases. The upcoming year will prove to be the biggest year for Carbon Tigers as they continue to expand outside of the Midwest and share their music with new fans alike.

The alternative band, Mime Game, will be going to Austin for South by Southwest 2014! The band released their new EP, Do Your Work, on October 1st, 2013, which was recorded in LA with Rick Parker (Dandy Warhols, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Jewel, Sugar Cult) and partially recorded at Scott Weiland’s (Stone Temple Pilots) studio. You can stream Do Your Work on Absolute Punk, here: http://bit.ly/1dPa3RE.

Singer, guitarist, and lyricist Dillon DeVoe created Mime Game as a side project in 2007, while still fronting the alt-rock act, Josephine Collective, then signed to the Warner Brothers label. What may have started as a solo project, Mime Game has grown into an inspired, energy-packed four-man troupe of musicians producing keep-it-real, folk-tinged, soulful alternative rock inspired by both 90s and 00s alt-rock bands and by a desire to create music with depth – on multiple levels.

A band that seems to have no time to waste, Mime Game set out in 2013 to share their inspired sound on a 38-day tour covering the eastern half of the country, in addition to performing at the 2013 Music Saves Lives Showcase at SXSW. Within their first year, Mime Game fulfilled important goals, including growing a loyal fan base, rocking venues from Harlem, NYC to Hannibal, Mo., and establishing the band as one that personifies the transformative power of music and passes that power along to its fans, sharing the stage with some amazing acts. These acts include notable bands such as Go Radio, Jukebox the Ghost, The Dangerous Summer, Moon Taxi, Hockey, From Indian Lakes, The Royalty, Stages and Stereos, You Me & Apollo, and Behold the Brave.

SXSW Showcase:

Fri. March 14th – 6pm – Music Saves Lives Showcase – Firehouse Lounge (605 Brazos St.)

Fri. March 14th – 7pm – Tapasitas (800 W 6th St.)

When looking for amazing talent at SXSW, you needn’t look very far. In fact, one of the many incredible acts comes from within the state! Houston’s award-winning ten-piece, The Suffers, will be heading to Austin for their first South by Southwest 2014! Since their formation in 2011, the female-fronted band has been redefining the sound of Gulf Coast Soul, intertwining elements of Classic American Soul with Rock & Roll. With such a large ensemble, the band is both sonically and visually arresting, with talented musicians and the perfect foundation for Kam Franklin’s outstanding vocals.

Comprised of Houston’s finest, The Suffers have an amazing lineup, leaving no one surprised when their first concert was announced…and completely sold out. In a short time, the band progressed from packing local Houston venues to accepting invitations for main stage performances at the 20th Annual Austin Reggae Festival, Houston’s Free Press Summer Festival, and PASTE Magazine’s Untapped Festival where they’ve shared the stage with the likes of The Wailers, Mavis Staples, Alabama Shakes, The Walkmen, and Cat Power.

The Suffers’ lineup was curated by bassist Adam Castaneda and keyboardist/songwriter/vocalist Pat Kelly. The pair brought on trumpet playerJon Durbin, trombonist Michael Razo, guitarist Kevin Bernier, and percussionist Jose “Chapy” Luna, all band mates from earlier projects. Accomplished jazz saxophonist Cory Wilson and songwriting/producing brothers, Alex Zamora (guitar/vocals) and Nick Zamora(drums/vocals) filled out the instrumental lineup. The final ingredient, lead vocalist Kam Franklin, happily grabbed the mic as the band’s leading lady and The Suffers were born.

The soul/hip-hop/funk four-piece, The Lonely Biscuits, will be returning to Austin this March to play South by Southwest! One year ago, these four college guys were well on their way to the big leagues – MTV cameras had just surprised them at their door at Belmont University in Nashville, TN announcing they were voted mtvU’s “College Artist of the Year” and were about to perform at the Woodie Awards at SXSW 2013, and they haven’t stopped since. For more details on the band’s upcoming SXSW performances, please visit: www.thelonelybiscuits.com.

Still full-time students in college at Belmont University in Nashville, The Lonely Biscuits have since landed major shows including support for The Fray, gigs at Loufest and the upcoming Hangout Music Festival 2014 in Gulf Shores, AL. Following the mtvU win, the band signed with Red Light Management and William Morris Endeavor and hit the studio to release their Fall 2013 EP, Things Sure Have Changed. The album charted on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart, hit the Top 50 iTunes Alternative Charts, and landed the band critical acclaim from The Hollywood Reporter, USA Today, MSN Music, ArtistDirect, FUSE, Baeble Music, MTV Buzzworthy, and more. Things Sure Have Changed is now available for download oniTunes, here: http://bit.ly/TLBiTunes.
