Moments ago, Disney dropped a bombshell of an announcement: they’re pushing the release of Star Wars: Episode VIII back. The film was originally given a date of May 26th, 2017. It has now been pushed back to December 15th.
This leaves many people wondering if this is a merchandising gimmick, which it most likely is. Star Wars: The Force Awakens had a lot of success, and a lot of merchandise being sold around Christmastime.
Star Wars isn’t the only film with a shifted release date; Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales to, near-enough Star Wars’ date, May 26th, 2017, from its previously scheduled July 7th, 2017.
What do you think? Do you think the new release date is a good idea?
