Sam Smith has just about confirmed the hope many fans have been holding onto: that he will sing the theme tune for the new James Bond film, Spectre.
The singer tweeted a picture of a finger with a ring featuring the movie’s logo. Having previously denied any involvement in the project, this seems to be a nod to the opposite direction, although the film doesn’t come out until October. Back in July, Smith had told Capital FM he was “definitely not” doing it, saying, “I’m being deadly serious. I think I would know by now. I heard Ellie Goulding was going to do it.”
Despite Goulding’s postings of photos of herself leaving Abbey Road Studios, this ring looks like the sign we’ve all been waiting for.
The film will be directed by Sam Mendes, who also worked on 2012’s Skyfall (you know, the amazing movie with the incredible theme by Adele?). The film also features the return of Daniel Craig as 007, as well as Oscar winner Christoph Waltz, WWE wrestler David Bautista, and Sherlock star Andrew Scott.
