This Century Announce New Album & Drop First Single

Today, This Century announced the upcoming release of their third full-length album, entitled, Soul Sucker. The album is slated for a June 2nd release via 8123, as the band’s follow-up to their 2013 independent release, Biography of Heartbreak.

Last week, the band began foreshadowing the release announcement by teasing images of the album’s new logo; an hourglass. The logo itself sums up the release in one simple image. Lead vocalist and frontman Joel Kanitz explains, “it represents our weary surrender to time due to uncontrollable circumstances and the inevitable and difficult wait that followed”, referring to the creation of the record.

The band wrote the record consecutively, with a clear goal in mind. The album took over a year to record. Kanitz found himself dealing with complications involving vocal cysts, which required vocal cord surgery to resolve. Thankfully, he healed well and was able to get back in the studio to finish up vocals on Soul Sucker. In reflection, he has since stated, ”We can plan all we want, and yet there invariably remains that shadowy unknown life urge we step into; the same thing that shapes us, refines us, molds us into the people that we are today. I’d like to think time has left us better than we were before”.

Below, you can stream the title track of the album, “Soul Sucker.” You can also pre-order the album HERE.
