Cobi Mike, ex-lead singer/songwriter of Gentlemen Hall (Island Records), has just premiered his debut solo single, “Walking Through The Fire,” through NPR tastemaker station The Current.
Mike left Gentlemen Hall to release his first solo project and rediscover his voice, despite their success. The Boston band was awarded an MTV Video Music Award in 2009, performed at the Billboard Music Awards in 2011, and received placement in Target/Samsung commercials, as well as 90210 and Pretty Little Liars in 2013. However, following their 2014 tour alongside Young The Giant, Cee Lo Green, All American Rejects, One Republic, and Beyonce, Mike made the decision to leave the band and release his solo EP. With the help of Grammy Award-winning engineer Tom Weir (Blondie, Willie Nelson) and an all-star cast of musicians including keyboardist Mia Fitz (Hozier) and drummer Matt Laug (Alanis Morisette, Christina Aguilera), Cobi Mike recorded his self-produced EP, featuring four original tracks. The track is brilliantly put together, with stunning melodics, entrancing instrumentals, and heartfelt vocals. The more you listen to the track, the more you’ll adore it.
